Dr Pam Boekel is a Victorian-based and trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery.

She has completed local and international, prestigious fellowships, including the highly recognised Wrightington Upper Limb Fellowship in the United Kingdom. As well as being an experienced general trauma surgeon, Dr Pam Boekel also performs all arthroscopic, open, arthroplasty and trauma procedures.

Dr. Pam Boekel’s passion for research and teaching shines through her role in educating future medical professionals.

As a dedicated teacher for Deakin Medical students at Northern and Ballarat Hospitals, she imparts invaluable knowledge and skills. Additionally, she serves as a surgeon mentor for Monash University Interest Group, guiding aspiring surgeons on their journey. Her teaching and research efforts encompass:

In her public practice, she offers consultations at the Richmond Consulting Suites, ensuring accessibility to quality orthopaedic care. Dr. Boekel conducts surgical procedures at Epworth Richmond, Hawthorn, St. Vincent’s Private East Melbourne, and Kew, extending her reach to diverse patient populations across multiple locations. Her dedication to both public and private healthcare settings underscores her commitment to serving the community with excellence and compassion.

 Credentials and Education

Dr. Pam Boekel has a wealth of education, training, and specialist experience. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours, along with a Master of Science (MSc).

Dr. Boekel is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA) and holdsa Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Orthopaedics.

Additionally, she is a member of the Victorian Shoulder and Elbow Society (VSES). Dr. Boekel underwent rigorous specialist training in orthopaedic surgery in Australia, followed by subspecialty training in shoulder and elbow surgery at Wrightington Hospital in the United Kingdom and in Townsville, Queensland.

With extensive experience gained through her prestigious Wrightington Upper Limb Fellowship in the UK, Dr. Boekel specialises in all aspects of shoulder and elbow surgery, including arthroplasty and arthroscopic procedures. She also adeptly manages traumatic injuries to the upper limb and general orthopaedic trauma cases. Notably, Dr. Boekel has treated elite athletes from the NRL and English Super League, showcasing her expertise in managing complex musculoskeletal issues.

Fellowship Qualification

Dr Pam Boekel has completed a number of national and international Fellowships, one being the prestigious Wrightington Upper Limb Unit in Lancashire, England.

The Upper Limb Unit specialises in hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder surgery, as well as arthroplasty,  arthroscopy, arthritis, post-traumatic reconstruction, tendon and nerve surgery as well as primary and complex trauma.
